I live outside Washington, D.C. with my wonderfully supportive husband and two daughters, one of which is approaching her teenage years. Help us all! If that isn’t enough, we have a Great Dane and an English Bulldog to keep us on our toes. It’s crazy around here and I love every minute of it! Writing is my third career. I didn't set out to be a writer, it was just meant to be. My Mechanical Engineering degree from Virginia Tech prepared me well for my first career as an Engineer/Program Manager. My second career was in Human Resources. Long story, but I figured it out. I believe the best start for a writing career is to be a reader first and I’ve been an avid reader my whole life. I've loved to read ever since I picked up my first Nancy Drew mystery in the fourth grade. Now I love reading just about everything, but I don’t read sad books and I don’t watch sad movies either for that matter, no matter how many awards they’ve won. Life’s too short and who needs all that strife to bring us down? Many of my words have been penned late into the evening, which explains why I’ve never viewed whatever television show you recommend to me. I would, however, love to hear your recommendations for a great read!

My Thoughts

I received this book by the author in exchanged for an honest review. Thank you too Cecilia London.

Holy Cow like freaking WOW! I just I just I am at a lost of words here. I just finished reading Conscious a few hours ago. And I can't describe you how I feel about this book. But just Conscious is freaking fantastic and brilliant book that I absolutely love and enjoyed. It is a lot kinkier on the hot sexy time which I absolutely love and don't mind. But it also had me teary eyed on some scenes and also on the edge of my seat on the other scenes. I can't go into too much details without spoiling it for anybody. But Conscious starts with a bang at the beginning for Caroline and then it gets much worst for her through the book. She goes through hell and back with everything they are doing to her. But she won't let them break her no matter the sacrifices and consequences she had to make. All she has left is her dreams and memories that she has of her family and love one's especially about her strong husband Jack. That she knows will get to her at any cost. Caroline still have faith and hope that Jack will come and save her. But after the cliffhanger end that ending man killed me man. Will it be too late for Caroline and her family especially will it be too late for Jack. Will here is where I am going to leave it off at. But I really do highly recommend to read Conscious. It will keep you on the edge of your set and keep you really hot on the sexy time. After reading the ending which left in a major cliffhanger. I really want to read the next book asap like right now. I have to know what happens to Caroline. It is going to be pure torture to wait for the next book to come out but all so worth the wait. Until Next Time My Friends.

She once was important. Now she’s considered dangerous.
In a new America where almost no one can be trusted, Caroline lies unconscious in a government hospital as others decide her fate. She is a political dissident, wanted for questioning by a brutal regime that has come to power in a shockingly easy way. As she recovers from her injuries, all she has are her memories. And once she wakes up, they may not matter anymore. Dissident is a blend of romantic suspense, contemporary romance, political thriller, and speculative fiction. Told mostly in flashback, it details the budding romantic relationship between our heroine, Caroline, and Jack, the silver fox playboy who tries to win her heart. Part One of a Six Part Series. Each part is a full length novel between 60,000-120,000 words and ends in a cliffhanger. For readers 18+. This saga contains adult situations, including non-gratuitous violence, explicit (consensual) sex, psychological and physical trauma, and an oftentimes dark and gritty plot (particularly in part two).

Forsaking Grey (The Colloway Brothers #1)

By K.L. Kreig

Here Are My Favorite Lines For This Week:

"Go out with me," I stated plainly

"Are you really that conceited or are you just stupid? I thought MIT was a college for smart people?"

I laugh, shaking my head. My God, I love her wit. "I'm that confident."

"I already told you I didn't want to go out with you," she huffs, but once again I call bullshit.

"I don't give up that easily, Livvy."

Anger causes her face to redden. "My name is Livia. Not Livvy."

"Tomorrow night. Just one date." My voice remains stoic and calm, but inside I am begging.

"I have to work tomorrow night."

"Than the night after that."

Grey Colloway too Livia Kingsley

Ohh Grey Ohh Grey he can be a douche and jerk but he really is an amazing person who is absolutely in love with Livia. And he would do anything for her and to be with her as well.

When I was ten, my father indoctrinated me into the family.

A brotherhood who would fight, protect, and give their lives for one another. A club whose ties ran thicker than blood, murkier than the dirt and grime that tainted my soul. Stronger than the bonds that connected me to my own family.

A band of brothers, where loyalty was kept and paid in a currency of blood.

When I was twenty-seven, I betrayed that brotherhood.

I’ve spent every day since running, avoiding paying back that debt.

My name is Daniel Johnson. I have betrayed everyone I ever loved.

And I’ll betray her too.

This is my story—if you’re screwed up enough to want to read it.

Book Trailer

Excerpt
I pick up a cup of cold, stale, black coffee and chug it down. It tastes like shit, so I screw the cap off of a bottle of Jack and chase the black filth with the burn of amber. I set it back on the table while the familiar click of my gun being cocked echoes through my small room. I laugh. Fucking ballsy bitches make me hot.

“Hands in the air, and turn around. Slowly,” the woman says through a scratchy throat. I do as she asks, mostly because I want to keep my spine intact, but also partly because bitches with guns are fucking hot, and I’m hard as a rock just thinking about the way she’s gonna look with a pistol trained on me.

She’s been busy while I was out, rummaging through my drawers and finding a pair of loose tracksuit pants. They’re rolled at the waist, so much that it makes her look pregnant. That, combined with her crazy fuckin’ cat lady hair and the filth covering her body, makes her look like a homeless person.

I smile and clasp my hands behind my head. Her eyes rove over me, taking in my size. She’s checking me for the arsenal I so obviously have stashed away in my fucking worn, faded jeans. She’s not checking me out and dreaming about me taking her rough and hard on my fucking scratched-up dining table, but I still get a fucking boner out of having her eyes roam all over me.

“Pick up the keys, and open the door,” she commands.

“If you run, they’ll shoot you.”

“Pick up the fucking keys.”

I snatch up the keys and lob them at her, hard enough that she has to twist out of the way. She cries out as she does, proving to me that her ribs are definitely injured, maybe even cracked. I lunge at her. Shoving her back against the bed, I land on top of her, warding off her blows with one hand and squeezing her wrist with the other until she drops the gun on the floor.

“Get off me!” she screams.
“You’re not leaving this clubhouse,” I whisper in her ear as she struggles beneath me. “The best you can hope for is to play nice and I might decide to keep you as a house mouse. But if you piss me off, and if you pull on me with my own gun again, your life will be so much worse. You thought the dentist was fucked up? Baby, you haven’t seen anything until you’ve lived inside my fantasies for a day. So if I were you, I’d be really fuckin’ careful about how you play your next move.”

Now my mess is a woman who won’t save herself. I’ll fight like hell to save her, but at what price to the club? And at what cost to me?

Excerpt

“Good morning,” he said, his voice still thick with sleep. He wrapped his muscular arms around my belly from behind me, the evidence of his arousal pressed against the small of my back. My breath caught and my heart quickened as he nuzzled the sensitive spot under my ear. Just this one simple act had my core pulsing with liquid heat. His hands roamed north, barely grazing my belly, and tenderly kneaded my swollen breasts. Moaning, I tilted my head up toward his and caught his searing lips with mine.

Abandoning the pan in front of me, I turned and threw my arms around his neck. Passion fueled my body as our lips frantically mashed together. Our tongues clashed, dueling over the right to invade the other’s mouth. Shane’s hands cupped my behind, then gripped hard as he led me over to the table. He swept aside the napkins and papers that covered it and lifted me onto the smooth surface.

Red colored my vision as my primal need took over. Shane pulled off my bathrobe at the same moment I yanked down his sweatpants. My mouth watered at the size of his erection and I eagerly stroked his throbbing, rigid shaft. His head rolled back and he groaned at my touch. There was a time for cuddling and foreplay, but this wasn’t it. His hazel eyes smoldered, and he desperately ripped the thin material of my cotton underwear right out from under me. Craving his touch, his body, his heat against mine, I leaned back on my elbows and gave him the opening he wanted.

Is it really wrong to have more than one boyfriend?

I brought a new one into my bed almost every night.

From conference rooms to broom closets, I escaped reality with my leading men. Okay, so they were fictional book boyfriends.

In reality I should have been concentrating on classes while I looked for a living, breathing man to help me achieve my romantic fantasies. It was a friend who suggested combining my passions for romance novels and psychology to generate my Master's thesis research topic: Does the modern day romance novel leading man create unrealistic expectations for a prolonged adult relationship?

To find out, I’d run a social experiment. I’d be the constant. The variables would be my leading men. I’d date every stereotype in the books, from billionaires to bad boys, rock stars to bikers, dominants, athletes, and…my stepbrother?

If my research was successful, I'd end up with a degree and maybe even my very own happy ending.

“What’s that?” Austin asked, snatching my list out of Shannon’s hand.

“The list for my research project. Do you know any men who fit my criteria?” I asked.

He studied the list for a moment before handing it back to me. “I know a few.”

Six eyes turned to Austin. “Who?” I asked.

“I know a rock star. Well, kind of. He sings for a local band, but they’ve got a great following. I know several businessmen, but not any CEOs. I might be able to hook you up with one, though. And I know a few bars around here where your bad boys hang out.”

My jaw dropped. Everyone has that one friend who knows everybody. Austin had lived in San Diego his entire life, so he knew the lay of the land.

“Take me to your bars!” I practically yelled, garnering a glare from students studying nearby. “Sorry,” I whispered.

“Wait a minute,” Shannon said. “I thought of a few you’re missing from your list.”

A few I was missing? I thought I’d pretty much covered all the bases. “Who?”

“You need a Fabio.” She stated it like it was obvious.

“Like a cover model?” I asked.

She shrugged. “Sure. Or like a historical romance guy.”

I laughed. Shannon could be a bit of an airhead sometimes. “Where am I going to find a historical romance guy? We’re in the present tense, Shannon.”

“Duh. Renaissance Festival. And Austin, you seem to know everybody else. Do you know any vampires?”

Laughter bubbled up from my chest. I couldn’t help when it spilled out, and when I looked over at Austin and Scott, I found a similar reaction. Shannon stared at us blankly.

“What?” she asked.

“Vampires?” I asked through my giggles.

“They’re in all the books,” she clarified, only spurring on our laughter. Her brows came together in anger.

My giggles turned into those silent quaking convulsions that I couldn’t possibly control. Scott was holding up his hand as if to tell Shannon to stop while he laughed, and Austin clutched his stomach from the hilarity.

We’d stop for a minute only to glance at one or the other, and then we’d start back up again, garnering more glares from students near us.

Our laughing had to have gone on for at least a full five minutes before we were composed enough to talk about it.

“What?” Shannon finally asked in frustration.

Austin gave Shannon a very serious look while I stifled another wave of giggles. Scott had to excuse himself after a less than flattering snort.

“Vampires aren’t real,” Austin finally said.

“Well, you need a paranormal,” Shannon said, her voice both irritated and completely serious. “How about a werewolf?”
After that comment, it was my turn to excuse myself after a less than flattering snort.
